NB's Comments:
4th place... even with a 40 min penalty. 9 hours and 40 minutes.
It was a very challenging course...
The hardest thing I've ever done racing. Basically it felt like we kept a Sprint Race pace for the full 9 hours!
But, we qualified for nationals! Very prestigious. I'm quite pleased.
I didn't have my watch with me for the last 3.3 mile run... but the following is the best I can figure...
We ran 12.6 miles.
We biked 46 miles.
We paddled 4.5 miles as follows (#1=1.25mi, #2=1.5mi, #3=1.75):
Erling: 4.5 miles
Me: 2.75 miles
Scottie: 3 miles
All the data is below... (the best I could figure using my HR monitor and my Timex)...
- Marked Run #1: 2.2 miles, 19.08
- Marked Bike: 12 miles, 1:18:54
- Nav #1: 3.6 miles: 1:07:24
- Bike to Johnson City: 15 miles, 1:17:42
- Paddle 3.5 1:25:00
- Rest: 40 min (this was my rest time while Scottie and Erling were paddling).
- Bike back from Johnson City: 15 miles, 1:07:37
- Bike/Land Nav: 1:36:37 (2.5 mile bike there… 3.5 miles running… 2.5 mile bike back)
- Mystery Event/Marked Run #2: 3.3 miles 45:21
Penalty: 00:40
- 4,600 calories

Scottie trekking...

NB (me) trekking...

Erling laughing at Scottie and me trekking...
Overall, twas an awesome time considering the three of us had never raced together before. I'm pissed about the penalty, but it is what it is. We still qualified for Nationals even with the penalty... I'll take it! |
